Sony interested in Margot playing Barbie

Wikileaks has published more than 170,000 emails they claim were lifted from the company’s servers.
In exchanges, which date back to March of last year, Robbie is picked as the frontrunner to play the blonde toy with Sandra Bullock, Amy Schumer and Amy Adams among the suggestions for her potential sidekick.
‘As far as who would play Barbie probably an ingenue. I like Margot Robbie, for instance. Or possibly a discovery,’ Doug Belgrad, the president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, writes.
Producer Laurie MacDonald, (Gladiator, Men In Black) also backed Robbie for the lead in an email to former Sony boss Amy Pascal.
‘She is Barbie come to life – she’d be great,’ she writes.
It seems it’s not just the executives who think Robbie would be perfect for the part. The actress herself was on board to play the real-life doll last May, according to an email from Hannah Minghella, co-president of production at Sony’s Columbia Pictures division.
‘Bugliari and JP pitched Margot the idea for Barbie and she loved it! She’s free in October once she wraps Tarzan,’ Minghella writes.
